I have always loved to write. Since I was child, words would roll around in my head and beg to find existence. My first job was as a secretary where I attempted not to write poetry while I was supposed to be writing letters. Sometimes the urge was too strong. I had started work at 16 straight out of secretarial college after leaving school due the sudden death of my father. I married young and continued to write poetry while my children grew. In my mid-forties I returned to a local high school, sat my HSC, and moved on to Macquarie University gaining First Class Honours in English, followed by a PhD in Creative Writing. Here, I discovered a love of short story writing, eventually moving into longer tales.
There are other important things in my life besides writing, of course. I have a wonderful husband, four great sons, four wonderful daughters-in-law, and fourteen delightful grandchildren. Still active member of Sydney’s Western suburbs community, I run my private music teaching studio, teach ESL at my church, am a Group Leader at Scouts, and mentor youngsters to write new material for Cumberland Gang Show – still composing the occasional song. Over the years, it’s been hard to eke out time for writing so I am delighted to have the opportunity to write novels later in life.
Here, in this magic space, I am an author, a weaver of tales, a conjurer of other spheres. Welcome to my imaginary world.
